IN VITRO FERTILIZATION (IVF)

The general outline of the process is as follows:
  • Medicines given to produce more eggs.
  • Collection of eggs from ovaries of female partner.
  • Collection of active sperms from male partner.
  • Putting them together in a dish in ultra sensitive incubator (that simulates the mother's womb) for fertilization.
  • After 2-3 days fertilized eggs or embryos deposited into female partner's womb.
  • Supportive medicines given.
  • Blood test performed after 14 days to confirm the pregnancy.
It is popularly also known as Test tube baby procedure.

Indications

  • Severly damaged or blocked fallopian tubes on both sides.
  • Severe endometriosis.
  • Sever PCOD.
  • Pelvic adhesion and bilateral to masses.
  • Male factor.
  • Failed IUI.
  • Unexplained infertility or long term infertility.
