IN VITRO FERTILIZATION (IVF)
The general outline of the process is as follows:
- Medicines given to produce more eggs.
- Collection of eggs from ovaries of female partner.
- Collection of active sperms from male partner.
- Putting them together in a dish in ultra sensitive incubator (that simulates the mother's womb) for fertilization.
- After 2-3 days fertilized eggs or embryos deposited into female partner's womb.
- Supportive medicines given.
- Blood test performed after 14 days to confirm the pregnancy.
It is popularly also known as Test tube baby procedure.
Indications
- Severly damaged or blocked fallopian tubes on both sides.
- Severe endometriosis.
- Sever PCOD.
- Pelvic adhesion and bilateral to masses.
- Male factor.
- Failed IUI.
- Unexplained infertility or long term infertility.
